  2. Certainly worth waiting so many years, yes! The stills alone from your films are
    excellent. No Bathurst coverage? Seems
odd, given that scores of UK (or British-born) drivers have competed there over so many years. I vividly recall the 1976 race, when Sir Stirling Moss entered – the tv and spectator numbers that weekend went to all-time high!

  3. Hah! Worth waiting 41 years then? Thanks!

We never get ANY coverage of Bathurst over here…

  4. Thank-you for these extraordinary images.
Here in Australia, back then, we’d have to wait about 6 weeks to read/see the Brit magazines’ race-coverages!! I never thought I’d ever see actual fims. Superb.

  10. All my own work! And as a paying customer as well, none of the advantages of being Medical Officer there. I have some film of many of these cars at the Monaco Historique, with sound and better quality. I’ll work on it…

  11. Was this footage you caught yourself DrBGW? This is fantastic archival stuff you got here! It would have been a bonus if the technology at the time could get the sound of the cars, but its a feast for the eyes nonetheless! Thanks Doc.

  12. Have a look at my Targa Florio movie. If Monaco was insane, what would you call that? CROWDS of people walking along the track. OK you could hear cars coming, but it is no wonder they stopped it in the end!

  13. I had not noticed it, but I have now! What an improvement! I now have to re-digitise everything without projector noise or accidental background music! Just a matter of time…
