Amateur footage, San Marino F1 Grand Prix 1994, Imola
By admin on Feb 14, 2010 in Grand prix video
Amateur footage taken from the stands at the Minerali corner during 1994 San Marino F1 Grand Prix, including a touching slow pass of Ayrton Senna behind the safety car
This makes it seem so much more real.

Harder to watch than I thought. Especially knowing with hindsight that Ayrton is never going to pass by again but being fully aware that as you were filming, you had no idea this would be the case and fully expected him to come around the next lap still in the lead. Fuck!

Note that they are not weaving their tyres behind the SC as they do today

Are these corners before Variante Alta chicane?

That is how dead can be in F1. Suddenly a car with a certain number does not pass by anymore….

Am I right in thinking the crowd did not know how serious the accident was until later? Very strange to watch this.

Questo video e’ un colpo al cuore.
Ayton era ancora con noi e il circuito di Imola era un vero spettacolo.
Ayrton e Roland non sono morti per colpa di un impianto poco sicuro.

Please get this VHS professionally converted to digital. You are one of the few people to have footage of his last race.
